Current Hibiscus Work

Presently, there are several good blooms Mr. Ludick is perfecting. Alexis is a unique white, pink, and red beauty. Nikita, a mini, is a stiking variation of Alexis. Both plants are self-seeders and thrive on their own root. The bushes are straight up and down, well clothed, and bloom constantly. They are available on their own root at Exotic Hibiscus.

In 2002, Alexis (Lady Lil x Lillian Ladd) a red and white single won a gold at the Ft. Myers show and Vero Beach show.

Also in 2002, Nikita (Lady Lil x Lillian Ladd) shades of lavendar and grey, mini. won Best of Show (miniature) at the Ft. Myers show, Vero Beach show and St. Petersburg show.

Another promising bloom is Bill Graves (Orange Magic x unknown). This bloom is a very large 9" single (see photo right).

Mr. Ludick is also working on hybridizing the ideal bloom to name after his wife, Roberta. She liked the bloom "Lillian Ladd", a deep red with white spots.

His next goal: to hibridize a brown bloom with white spots. Until he perfects such a bloom, he is busy cultivating several new blooms which are listed here.
